His personality does mellow as time goes by, revealing a surprisingly caring Doctor.

THE TWIN DILEMMA

A race of giant gastropods has taken over the planet Jaconda. Their leader, Mestor, now intends to cause an enormous explosion in order to spread his people's eggs throughout the galaxy, and he kidnaps juvenile twin geniuses from Earth to work out the necessary mathematical equations. The Doctor and Peri become involved and help Jaconda's elderly former ruler Professor Edgeworth, who is really a Time Lord named Azmael, to defeat Mestor and free the planet's bird-like indigenous people from the gastropods' reign of terror

ATTACK OF THE CYBERMEN

The TARDIS is lured to Earth in 1985 by a distress call sent by Lytton, who has made contact with a group of Cybermen based in London's sewers. The Doctor and Peri are then captured and forced to take Lytton and the Cybermen in the TARDIS to the Cybermen's home planet Telos. The Cybermen have stolen a time vessel from another race and plan to change history by crashing Halley's Comet into Earth.

VENGEANCE OF VAROS

One of the most popular of Colin Baker's adventures, Vengeance on Varos finds the Doctor and Peri involved with rebels in a 1984-like world, where televised torture is used to support and enforce an unworkable regime ruling a mining society on the planet Varos

MARK OF THE RANI

In 19th century England, the Doctor finds himself facing two competing enemies: his old adversary the Master, and the Rani, another Time Lord with a sinister plan. The local population and turning violent and unpredictable and, with a major meeting of the brains of the Industrial Revolution due to happen in the village soon, the Doctor must work out what exactly is causing all the problems

THE TWO DOCTORS

This adventure starts encouragingly enough, with Troughton and Jamie (Frazer Hines) investigating time-travel experiments on a space station, which endanger the fabric of the universe. Baker's Doctor and Peri (Nichola Bryant) arrive in the aftermath of a massacre and suspect the Timelords; but events lead them to Spain and old enemies the Sontarans

TIMELASH

The planet Karfel is ruled by a cruel tyrant, the Borad. When the Doctor arrives he is asked to rescue a woman, Vena, who has been cast out through a time tunnel known as the Timelash. If he refuses, the life of his companion, Peri, is forfeit.

REVELATION OF THE DALEKS

The Doctor and Peri arrive on Necros to attend the funeral of an old friend of who has recently died. However, Tranquil Repose is not all it seems and an attempt is made on the Doctor's life. Soon the Doctor comes face to face with the Great Healer, only to discover it is none other than Davros, the creator of the Daleks, intent on rebuilding the Dalek race decimated by the Movellans.

TRIAL OF A TIMELORD

This four-disc set features the episodes - "The Mysterious Planet", "Mind Warp", "Terror Of The Vervoids" and "The Ultimate Foe" - that make up the Trial of a Time Lord storyline. The TARDIS is drawn to a space station where the Doctor is subjected to a Time Lord inquiry into his behaviour. The prosecuting counsel, the Valeyard, presents the first piece of his evidence, which consists of a recording played back on a screen linked to the Matrix. It concerns a visit by the Doctor and Peri to the desolate planet Ravolox...

THE MYSTERIOUS PLANET

The saga begins when the Tardis is drawn into mammoth space station. The Doctor emerges alone to face a tribunal of the Time Lords, and placed on trial for cosmic interference. The trial beings with a screening of the Doctor arriving on Ravalox.

MINDWARP

The cosmic prosecutor, Valeyard, builds his case against Doctor Who, with evidence recorded in the Matrix and through the Tardis. The Doctor's most recent adventure is introduced as evidence of his guilt.

TERROR OF THE VERVOIDS

The Doctor presents his case, a stor from his near future that occurs after he has met a new companion, Melanie.

THE ULTIMATE FOE

The truth is revealed.
