Dracula (1931)
In the misty shadows of Transylvania, solicitor Renfield arrives at Castle Dracula to finalize a real estate deal. The castle is eerie, the locals are terrified, and Count Dracula—played with hypnotic menace by Bela Lugosi—is no ordinary nobleman. After seducing Renfield into becoming his loyal thrall, Dracula sails to England, bringing with him an ancient hunger and a chilling charm.
Once in London, Dracula sets his sights on young women—first Lucy, then Mina, the daughter of Dr. Seward. As Mina begins to fall under his spell, her fiancé Jonathan Harker and the wise Professor Van Helsing race to uncover the truth and stop the vampire before his curse spreads further.
With its haunting atmosphere, fog-drenched sets, and Lugosi’s iconic performance, Dracula defined the cinematic vampire for generations. It’s not just a horror film—it’s a slow-burning symphony of seduction, dread, and the eternal battle between light and darkness.
Dracula is the forerunner for many other Dracula movies and TV shows, including the marvellous Christopher Lee's Hammer films epics.
